Smell the Flowers
Good Morn Fellow People!
Guess what!? The sky's awake! The sun is shining, and the flowers have bloomed! What beauty surrounds us on this little place we call earth. I think we sometimes forget to find love in those little things. The sun shining, colorful flowers, our favorite dessert being served, laughing at a joke a friend made, or even a silent moment to ourselves. Life is short to begin with, so why let it pass by? As a people we tend to focus so much on the future, and getting everything done for school or work, that we miss the life we’re leading right now. This is something I know I’ve struggled with in the past, and still do, but it’s something we can adapt to. You see, it’s ok to think about the future, but we need to learn to enjoy the now as well.
As the end of my first spring semester comes to a close, I’m beginning to realize that I really will miss this silly goofy campus. Yes, I’ve had my ups and downs here, don't get me wrong, but this semester specifically, I’ve started to appreciate the things and people I’ve met along the way. I made friends, actual friends, can you believe it? I get dinner with them most nights and spend days watching movies and joking around. I’m really going to miss that, honestly. However, I know I’ll be back here, and that feeling of sadness I have about leaving shows me that I have learned to appreciate the little things here, despite the hard classes and exams. I am excited to go home though, to watch shows with my sisters, eat family dinners, work at a new place, go on adventures, and snuggle my pets.
There is so much in life to find beauty in. I know, I know, you’re probably reading this and thinking- ‘Lee, what are you on right now??’ It’s cheesy advice, yes, but it’s something so many people forget. Like I said before, we let it pass us by like a car on the highway. So, if you learn to look forward to the little things in life, you will inevitably be much happier. Don’t let it pass you by, smell the flowers and go for a walk in the sun for me today-
Much Love,
Lee
